Obituary of Wanda W. McClain

They hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. John 10:27 On November 30, 2013, surrounded by her family, Wanda McClain grasped her Lord and Savior’s hand to forever be with Him. Wanda was born to Alice and Alfred Roy Eaton on March 5, 1918 at her parent’s home south of Kimberly, Idaho. After graduating from Twin Falls High School in 1938, she attended and graduated from the Albion Normal School with a teaching degree. Her first and only teaching assignment was at Hillsdale, a one-room, all grades public school south of Eden, Idaho. It was here that the love of her life fell into her world. Ralph and Wanda married on April 24, 1942, a union which continued for sixty years. Wanda cherished her home on the farm. She loved to cook and entertained friends and family with inventive and enticing gourmet dinners. She was a member of an amazing, talented group of farm wives devoted to friendship, entertainment, and a great bridge game. After a lifetime as a Christian, at the age of 95, Wanda left this earthly realm to meet with those who preceded her: her Lord, Jesus Christ, her husband, parents, two brothers: Raymond Harmison and Ralph, two sisters: Alice Ada and Stella cox, and innumerable number of friends who had been waiting patiently for her to join them. Wanda is survived by her son Nelson (Dixie) McClain, daughters Judy Nale and Margie McClain; seven grandchildren: Julie(Randy) Quinton, Jill (Jim) Tanner, Jeff (Sarah) McClain, Aric (Crystal) McClain, Ambur (Brian) Peterson, Traves (Julie) Olson, and Arin Olson; thirteen great grandchildren: Britney and Drew Quinton, Jacob and Jazlyn Tanner, Riley and Brady McClain, Jaden and Jordan Peterson, Trysta, Taylor and Tabur McClain, Sarah and Brooklyn Olson and many thoughtful and attentive nieces and nephews. Special thanks and appreciation for the tender care, thoughtfulness, and the extraordinary efforts the staff of Bridgeview took in the care of our Mom on her final journey. In memory of Wanda, the family requests that those who remain behind remember her, if they wish, by lighting a candle on Christmas Day and placing it in a window facing her farm in Eden.
