Obituary of Fay Wright

Please share a memory of Fay to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Fay (Stevens) Blakeslee Wright, age 98, died on March 25, 2018, in Twin Falls. Fay was born on January 10, 1920, in Marly—a small community west of Richfield, ID, to Walter and Mary Grace Stevens. She went to a one-room school house and graduated from Richfield High School. She married Roy Blakeslee in 1940. Their first home was a one-room granary and she thought it was so cute. They moved to the Kimberly area and then Twin Falls as Roy farmed at different locations. During this time they met Gladys and Leon Wright and all four worked at the Sugar Beet Factory for a time. Over the years they had four daughters and a son. They loved to dance at the grange hall. In 1952 they moved north of Curry and the children attended Union School. Fay worked hard cooking meals for the hired men and was actively involved with Cub Scouts in addition to her homemaking duties. Roy died of a heart attack in 1962 at the age of 49. Fay moved to Twin Falls and shared a home with her sister Ruth. In 1964 she married Leon Wright of Filer, whose wife had passed and Fay gained two more children. Leon was kind to her children. They enjoyed building a new home, playing cards and camping. Every summer they took the kids to Redfish Lake with a boat and all kids learned to ski. They also enjoyed many trips together, including the New York World's Fair and Hong Kong. Sadly, Leon died of cancer in 1985. This was another difficult time for her being all alone on the farm. After 10 years she sold the farm and moved into Twin Falls. In 2013 she moved to Bridgeview Estates where she loved the canyon walks, and Bingo. Fay loved CSI basketball and tried to never miss a game! She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had several Relief Society callings. She was fortunate to have traveled extensively throughout the US and abroad. Fay was always kind and giving and spent many hours visiting those in need. She loved to travel, bowl, play games, garden, and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She often said "I've got the best kids in the world." Fay was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Frank, Lucile, Ruth, Dave, Helen and Grant, a daughter Mary Eileen, and a step-daughter Leona. She is survived by daughters Carol Quaintance of Twin Falls, Bonnie Chamberlain of Grants Pass, OR, Donna (Bud) Gudmundson of Boise, son Robert (Alma) Blakeslee of Burley, stepson Roy (Cathy) Wright of San Antonio, TX, seventeen grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. At Bridgeview she enjoyed the staff and we express our thanks to them for their care and kindness. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at Rosenau Funeral Home, 2826 Addison Ave. E., Twin Falls, ID. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 30, at 11:30 am at the LDS Church at 847 Eastland Drive North, Twin Falls. A viewing will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at the cemetery in Richfield, ID. The family suggests memorials be made to your favorite charity.
