Obituary of Patricia E Fisher

Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Pat Fisher passed from this life the morning of July 11, 2018 at the age of 95. She was born Patricia Evelyn Beem on November 15, 1922 to Edwin Arthur and Helen Marie (Crump) Beem in Twin Falls. She had a happy childhood on Yakima Street in Filer, Idaho surrounded by friends, cousins, uncles, aunts, a grandmother and her older sister Barbara (Cobb) and younger sister Lois (Williams). She graduated from Filer High School in May 1940 and worked a year before starting school at the U of I Southern Branch (now ISU). She met Leonard Fisher (Foggie) on a blind date in early '41, but word has it that she was aware of the handsome drum major from Kimberly before that time. In her own words "Foggie was special". They were formally engaged in November '42 after he was called to active duty in September. In October of '43, the Red Cross arranged for Dad to come home to see his sick mother who was having cancer surgery. On Sunday they decided to get married on Tuesday the 19th in the front room of Foggie's parents' house. The war caused a quick, decisive action that turned out to be good, very good. Following the war, Pat and Fog settled down on the family farm near Kimberly and had three sons: Mike, Doug and Mark. Pat dedicated all her energies to Dad and her kids. Holidays were filled with joyous family gatherings with her parents' and sisters families and with Dads parents and sister's family. Mom had many long associations: the Kimberly (now Crossroads) Methodist Church, Music Club, P.E.O. Chapter D (since 1960), a bridge club of legendary friendships, Hospital Auxiliary (MV and then St. Luke's) and loyal fan ship of CSI basketball and volleyball. Faith was important to Pat. From Sunday school as a child, rededication after a biopsy in 1967, Cursillo in 1984, faithful attendance at Crossroads, to the Sunday services during her final days at Syringa Place, she continued with a childlike faith. Mom and Dad loved to travel. They had great trips to Hawaii, Australia, South Carolina, Dads flight group reunions, and Rotary conventions. But they always loved to come home. After Foggie's passing in October of 2016, she longed to join him. Some of our strongest memories are of the two of them dancing – anytime Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and songs of their era were heard. The grace and swing as they danced spoke volumes of their love and relationship. Pat is survived by her sons Mike, Doug (Deb), Mark (Adrianne), 5 grandchildren – Geoffrey Fisher, Amanda Pikas, Grace Cramer, Tom Fisher, and Ryan Fisher, 10 great-grandchildren and "always a daughter-in-law", Judy Whitely. The family would like to thank the staff at Syringa Place, and Dr. Steven Kohtz for their care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Crossroads United Methodist Church, the Charles and Ina Fisher and Art and Helen Beem Scholarship at CSI, or the St. Luke's Magic Valley Foundation. A Memorial Service will be held at Crossroads UMC, 131 Syringa Ave. Kimberly, at 2:00 on July 27th. Services are under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home. Family and friends are encouraged to share their memories at www.rosenaufuneralhome.com
