Floretta A. Slatter, 78, passed away peacefully at her home on September 13, 2013. Her husband Bob and son Doug welcomed her with open arms. Flo was born March 16, 1935, in Twin Falls, Idaho. She was raised on the Salmon Tract by her grandfather George Carter. She graduated from Filer High School in 1953 and went on to graduate from Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1957. On December 22, 1959 she married the love of her life, Bob Slatter, of Filer, Idaho. Flo was a loving wife, mother, sister, nurse, and friend. She was married to Bob for 44 years and lovingly took care of him for many years until he passed away from Lou Gehrig’s disease in 2003. Flo was actively involved in her community. She helped promote the building of the Filer Swimming Pool and also the CSI Auditorium through fundraising efforts. Flo was a devoted charge nurse and supervisor at MVRMC for 25 years. She also worked in long term care and hospice for 10 years prior to starting Hospice Visions, Inc. in 1995 with her daughter Tami. Flo was very dedicated to Hospice Visions, Inc. and continued to support it even after her retirement in early 2013. Flo was actively involved in both the Filer American Legion Auxiliary and the Filer High School Alumni, as President and member for many years. She received the Life Time Achievement Award from the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce in 2008 and became a lifetime member of the Cambridge Who’s Who registry in the 2008-2009 Edition. Flo enjoyed dancing, camping, traveling and just plain hard work with her family. She is now dancing with dad in Heaven. Flo is survived by her daughter Tami Slatter (Jerry Gunter), sister-in-law Betty Hayes; brother-in-law Harold Slatter ; her nephews Kenny, Randy and Rod Pooler and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bob” Slatter and son Douglas “Stubby” Slatter. The family gives special thanks to the loving team at Hospice Visions for the kindness and compassion given to Flo during her end-of-life journey these past months. There will be a viewing at Rosenau Funeral Home, Friday September 20th from 6-8 pm. The celebration of life will be held on Saturday September 21st at Noon at Rosenau Funeral Home, 2826 Addison Ave. E., Twin Falls. Following the service there will be a luncheon with burial at filer Cemetery at 3pm. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be given to Hospice Visions Inc. 1770 Park View Drive, Twin Falls, Idaho 83301 in Flo’s name. “Memories make what we are.
