Obituary of Billy Joe Lewis

Billy Joe (Bill) Lewis of Jerome, Boise, and Kimberly, Idaho, was born Oct. 1, 1931 to Joseph Walter Lewis and Emma (Ruth) McCauley Lewis in La Junta, CO. He quietly left us April 23, 2019 as was his way.  After losing his father at the age of 8, he was raised by his mother, along with his siblings,  Ruth (Irene) Lewis, Alton Lester Lewis, and Warren (Glenn) Lewis in Twin Falls, Idaho, where he attended The Seventh-day Adventist School through the 8th grade.  He then finished his high school years at the Seventh-day Adventist High School in Boise.  Over time he continued his schooling in misc. areas and finally found his talents in the electronics field.  During his quest he found himself in a wide variety of occupations.  Including, but not limited to: The Army (ambulance driver Korea);Touring Pro Wrestler. (Always the good guy); Security Guard in a Las Vegas Casino; Truck Driver (Falls Brand among other companies). Along with those not shared with this generation.  He found his fit at Magic Valley Regional Medical Center as a Bio-Med Tech where he worked for many years before retiring.  Not one to sit around, he decided to drive school bus.  He enjoyed handball, was a brown belt in Taekwondo and loved sparring with his sons in the family living room and in later years bowled with his wife Ethel.  He loved to read and excelled and won awards in all that he did.  On June 3, 1956 Bill married Ethel Edwards.  They immediately started their family.  March 16th they welcomed their first son William Glenn Lewis followed by Douglas Duane Lewis on his birthday Oct. 1,1959.  Although they divorced, Bill and Ethel remarried and this time she brought 2 step-children Avis Melony Starr and Clay Edward Starr to the family and he lovingly shared in raising them as his own.  They shared the rest of Ethel’s life as best friends.  Bill primarily spent the rest of his time roommatting with his son Doug and his wife.  Later spending his final days with his son Clay and his wife in Jerome, Id.  Bill is survived by 3 of his children, Doug and (Roxy Starr), Avis Starr-Grob (Greg Grob) and Clay (Lorri) Starr, and daughter-in-law, Karen Novak (Lewis), 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, his dearest lady friend Gwennie, and countless others he called family.  He was preceded in death by both his parents, all of siblings, his wife, Ethel Lewis and oldest son, William (Bill) Lewis.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday May 18, 2019 at Lighthouse Christian Church on Eastland Dr. Twin Falls, ID.
