Obituary of Gary Michael Jauregui

Gary Jauregui passed away November 19, 2021, at the age of 46. Funeral services will be held at Rosenau Funeral Home in Twin Falls, Idaho on Tuesday, November 30th at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow on Wednesday, December 1st at 11:00 a.m. at the Meridian Cemetery in Meridian, Idaho. Gary was born in Boise, Idaho on October 6, 1975, to Ramon and Carolyn Jauregui. He attended schools in Meridian and Boise and graduated from Capital High School in 1993. He went on to college at Boise State University where he would ultimately earn two degrees – one in Production Management and another in Computer Information Systems. He worked in these fields for several years before finally answering his calling to become a physician. He returned to Boise State University to take the requirements for entrance to medical school and matriculated at Des Moines University School of Medicine in 2008 at the age of 32. He completed his studies and graduated from Medical School in 2012, earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.). He then completed his internship year in Corvallis, Oregon, and Residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Indiana in Indianapolis. Gary loved Idaho and longed to return home. He was hired by St Luke’s Magic Valley in Twin Falls, Idaho and was so happy to have come home after having lived in Des Moines, Iowa, Detroit, Michigan, Corvallis, Oregon and Indianapolis, Indiana, with shorter stints in other places during training. He loved his work and his colleagues at St Luke’s and was happy to have achieved his dream of being an anesthesiologist. Gary had many interests and was a man of many talents. From high school on he was very interested in motor sports and loved working on cars – particularly Ford Mustangs. He could fix anything and loved figuring out how to make life easier around the house. He was a Boise State football fan and loved being active. He enjoyed mountain biking and snowmobiling, boating and car racing. He had many friends he loved from junior high and high school, college, and medical school and from his work. He was an incredible tease and had a dry sense of humor. He was adored by his older sister and parents and was a strong man who faced adversity with grit and courage. He cared for his elderly parents, helping them and always being there for them. He was his sister’s best friend. He was loved by so many, and his loss is enormous. Gary is survived by his mother, Carolyn Jauregui (Meridian), his older sister, Amy Jauregui (Meridian) aunts, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Ramon Jauregui, and cousin Paul Jauregui. A special thank you to all his coworkers at St Luke’s Magic Valley who helped him and stood by him after his diagnosis with cancer. Your support was incredible and meant so much to him and to his family. Memorials are suggested to St Luke’s Cancer Services or to a favorite charity. The family requests no flowers. We love you Gary and will miss you. Thanks for being the best brother and son. Be with Dad and we will see you again someday.
