Obituary of Wanda Sallee Johnson

Please share a memory of Wanda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Wanda Sallee Johnson passed away December 4, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Wanda was born April 24, 1931, the only child of Earl and Leila Sallee in Twin Falls, Idaho. They lived in Bickel, northeast of Hansen, where she rode her horse to a one room schoolhouse until the 8th grade. She and her folks moved to the family farm in Kimberly, and she finished her education there, graduating from Kimberly High School in 1949. Wanda was the Twin Falls Rodeo Queen in 1948. After graduation she went to Twin Falls Business College and later worked for Idaho Power. On September 20, 1952 Wanda married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Raymond Johnson. They spent three years in Mississippi and Washington, D.C. while Raymond was in the Air Force and then moved back to Idaho, to the family farm. She and Raymond were 4H leaders for many years. Wanda was an excellent cook, loved to work in her yard, tole paint, play pinochle and bowl. She loved her art projects big and small and always completed them picture perfect, making her friends envious of her talent and eye for detail. Raymond was a faithful participant in many of these projects, cutting the patterns from wood for her to paint. Many of you probably saw the finished projects displayed in the front yard at Christmas time. Wanda will be remembered for her generosity, her good humor and friendship. Wanda is survived by her husband, Raymond, and daughter and son-in-law Janelle and Tom Evans of Layton, UT. The family wishes to thank Idaho Home Health and Hospice and the Department on Aging for providing loving care to Wanda this past year – Grace and Susan – you are angels among us. To Raymond for your selfless devotion and tender care, showered upon the love of your life, your precious Wanda, kept her with us much longer than we expected. Memorial services will be held at 3:00pm, Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Crossroads Methodist Church, 131 Syringa Ave., Kimberly, ID. The family suggests that memorials be made in Wanda’s name to the Crossroads Methodist Church or a charity of your choice. Arrangements were under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home. Family and friends are encouraged to share your memories at www.rosenaufuneralhome.com
