Obituary of John C. White

John Conrad White, 73, Twin Falls, departed this life on June 18, 2012 from complications following heart surgery. John was born April 12, 1939 in Twin Falls, Idaho, the fifth son of William Llewellyn White and Emma Egbert White. He grew up south of Twin Falls working on the family farm and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1957. After high school he joined the Idaho National Guard and later the U.S. Army Reserve. John then worked at Self’s Manufacturing, later known as K and T Steel, for many years. In September of 1965, he was one of the original 540 students to attend the new College of Southern Idaho, where he studied auto body and repair. John continued his love and talent for repairing cars while working for Millrany Buick, Union Motors, and Bill Workman Ford, and was body shop manager for Dick Dey Oldsmobile for many years. Eventually, he realized his dream of having his own business, John’s Auto Body on Eastland Drive South in Twin Falls. Adding to his joy was the opportunity he had to work with his son, Stan, at both Dick Dey’s and his own business. Following his retirement from auto body, John worked part time with First Federal Bank. On April 3, 1959, John married his sweetheart, Ann Haslam, at her parent’s home in Filer, Idaho. They have enjoyed the past 53 years together. To this union three children were born. On April 30, 1966, their marriage was solemnized, and an eternal family was formed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. One of John’s passions was horseback riding, and he spent several years riding and providing community service with the Twin Falls County Mounted Sherriff’s Posse. He served as drill master for the Twin Falls Junior Riding Club for several years while his children participated in the youth group, always eager to support and encourage their endeavors. He most enjoyed trail riding in the beautiful mountains of Idaho with his family. John also enjoyed hunting, camping, and Dutch oven cooking for his family and friends when he wasn’t riding dirt bikes with his sons, or an ATV with his wife. John will long be remembered for his honesty and generosity, his ability to fix, repair or build anything, his quiet, gentle demeanor, his hard work ethic, his kindness to animals, his tenderness and loving ways, and his beautiful blue eyes. Above all else, John loved his family. John was preceded in death by his father, mother, and three brothers; David, Bill and George. He is survived by his wife, sons; Kelly (Debra) White of Kimberly, Stan (Shon) White of Filer, daughter, Wendy (Ron) Kerr of Twin Falls, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, and a brother, Lew. There will be a viewing at Rosenau Funeral Home, 2826 Addison Ave. East in Twin Falls on Thursday, June 21, from 6-8 pm. The funeral will be Friday, June 22, at noon with a viewing from 11:00 am until 11:45 am at the Twin Falls South Stake Center, corner of Orchard Drive and Harrison Street South.
